The Fiddle Leaf Fig is an iconic indoor plant known for its bold, violin-shaped leaves and impressive stature. With its glossy, deep green foliage and tall, upright growth habit, this plant makes a stunning statement in any room. While it has a bit of a diva reputation, it’s surprisingly easy to keep happy once you nail down the basics. Ideal for bright, airy spaces, the Fiddle Leaf Fig brings a touch of natural sophistication to modern interiors.

Fiddle Leaf Fig 〰️ Care Guide

POSITION / LIGHT: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Loves a sunny spot with filtered sunlight for a few hours each day. Too little light can cause leaf drop, while direct sunlight may scorch the leaves.

WATERING: Water when the top 5–7cm of soil feels dry. Typically, this means once a week during the growing season and every 2–3 weeks in winter. Avoid letting the soil completely dry out or become waterlogged.

TEMPERATURE: Prefers warm, stable temperatures between 18–26°C. Avoid cold drafts, heating vents, or sudden temperature changes, which can cause stress and leaf drop.

FERTILISER: Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Skip feeding in autumn and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.

GROWTH RATE: Fast when given ideal conditions. Fiddle Leafs can grow up to 1–2 metres indoors, with the potential to reach ceiling height over time. Regular pruning helps maintain a bushier shape.

PET FRIENDLY? No. Fiddle Leaf Figs are toxic if ingested, so keep them out of reach of pets and small children.

FAQ'S 〰️

How often do Fiddle Leaf Figs need to be watered?

Typically once a week during the growing season, and every 2–3 weeks during the cooler months. Always check the soil before watering - if the top few centimetres are dry, it’s time for a drink. Water thoroughly, allowing excess to drain out.

Why do leaves on my Fiddle Leaf Fig go brown?

Brown edges usually indicate underwatering or low humidity, while dark brown spots can mean overwatering or root rot. Check your watering routine, and make sure your plant is getting enough moisture without being waterlogged. Also, avoid exposing it to cold drafts.
