Philodendron Silver Sword 〰️ Care Guide
POSITION / LIGHT: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Too little light may cause leggy growth and dull the silver sheen. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
WATERING: Water when the top 3–5cm of soil feels dry. Keep the soil lightly moist during the growing season, but never soggy. Allow for good drainage to prevent root rot.
TEMPERATURE: Loves warm, stable temperatures - ideally between 18–28°C. Keep it away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
FERTILISER: Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. No need to fertilise in winter.
GROWTH RATE: Fast grower when given the right conditions. It’s a climber by nature, so provide a stake, moss pole, or trellis to support upright growth.
PET FRIENDLY? No. Like many philodendrons, the Silver Sword is toxic if ingested by pets or humans. Best to keep it up high or out of reach.

Should I mist my Silver Sword Philodendron?
Light misting is fine, especially in dry environments, but it’s not essential. For consistent humidity, a pebble tray or humidifier is more effective (and less messy).
How do I make my Philodendron happy?
Bright, indirect light, a well-draining potting mix, and regular (but not excessive) watering will keep your Silver Sword thriving. Bonus points for humidity and occasional leaf wipes to let those silver tones shine.
What is an example of bright indirect light?
Think of a room with plenty of daylight but where the sun doesn’t hit the plant directly—like near a window with a sheer curtain, or a spot a few metres back from a north or east-facing window. Enough light to read by, but no direct rays.
