Bird’s Nest Fern  〰️ Care Guide

 POSITION / LIGHT: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can handle medium to lower light but keep it away from direct sun—it can burn those delicate fronds. Great for bathrooms, kitchens, or filtered light spots.

  WATERING: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry. Water around the base—not into the centre “nest”—to avoid rot.

  TEMPERATURE: Thrives in temps between 18–26°C. Loves humidity, so it’s ideal for steamy bathrooms or near a humidifier. Avoid cold drafts or overly dry air.

  FERTILISER: Feed every 4 to 6 weeks during spring and summer. No need to feed in winter when growth slows.

  GROWTH RATE: Moderate. This compact cultivar grows steadily and can reach around 30–50cm tall and wide with the right care.

They can also be planted outdoors in suitable climates, particularly in shaded areas. They thrive in a warm, frost-free climate, in well drained soil.

What is the best potting mix for Asplenium?

A rich, well-draining mix with good moisture retention is ideal. Try a blend of premium indoor plant soil with added peat, perlite, and a touch of orchid bark for airflow. Avoid heavy or compacted soils.
