Elegant, arching branches and small glossy leaves that catch the light as they move. The Weeping Fig has a graceful, almost tree-like presence that brings a sense of calm to any room it lives in. It takes a little time to settle into a new space, but once it does, it becomes one of those plants you can't imagine the room without. Worth the patience.

CARE GUIDE

+ POSITION / LIGHT: Bright indirect light in a stable spot. This one dislikes being moved and will drop leaves to let you know about it. Find its place and leave it there.

+ WATERING: Allow the top 2–3cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow to drain fully. Reduce watering over winter.

+ TEMPERATURE: Comfortable between 16–24°C. Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioning, and heating vents. Sudden temperature changes trigger leaf drop.

+ FERTILISER: Feed once a month through spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser. No feeding needed over winter.

+ GROWTH RATE: Moderate. Given stable conditions and good light it will grow steadily, eventually reaching ceiling height indoors over several years.

+ PET FRIENDLY: No, toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep out of reach.

FAQ'S

1. My Weeping Fig is dropping lots of leaves. What's happening? Most likely a change in environment. A new position, a draft, a shift in temperature, or even a change in watering routine can trigger leaf drop. Keep conditions as consistent as possible and new growth should follow.

2. Can I propagate it? Yes, through stem cuttings taken in spring or summer. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and place in moist soil or water. It roots slowly, so patience is key.

3. The leaves are sticky and shiny. What's causing it? This is usually a sign of scale or mealybug. Check the undersides of leaves and along the stems. Treat with neem oil or an insecticidal soap, repeating every week or two until clear.
