Plant Size ↓

Arching green and white striped leaves that spill outward in every direction, cheerful and unfussy in equal measure. The Ocean variety is a compact, non-stoloniferous Spider Plant, meaning it stays neat and tidy without sending out the long runners its cousins are known for. A brilliant choice for a shelf, a bathroom, or as a gift for someone just starting their plant collection.

CARE GUIDE

+ POSITION / LIGHT: Adapts well to a wide range of light conditions, from bright indirect light to lower light spots. Avoid harsh direct sun which can scorch the leaf tips.

+ WATERING: Allow the top 2–3cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Spider Plants are forgiving of occasional missed waterings but appreciate consistency.

+ TEMPERATURE: Comfortable between 15–27°C. Tolerates cooler temperatures better than most indoor plants but keep away from frost.

+ FERTILISER: Feed once a month through spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser. No feeding needed over winter.

+ GROWTH RATE: Moderate. Stays compact and tidy, making it ideal for smaller spaces and shelves.

+ PET FRIENDLY: Yes, non-toxic to cats and dogs. 🐾

FAQ'S

1. The leaf tips are turning brown. What's causing it? Usually low humidity, fluoride in tap water, or inconsistent watering. Try switching to filtered or rainwater and keep moisture levels more consistent.

2. Can I propagate it? The Ocean variety doesn't produce runners like a standard Spider Plant, so propagation is done by dividing the plant at the base during repotting. Ensure each division has healthy roots before potting up separately.

3. The leaves are losing their white variegation and going plain green. Why? Not enough light. Move it to a brighter spot with good indirect light and new growth should come through with the white striping more defined.
