Plant Size ↓

Huge, heart-shaped leaves patterned with silvery grey markings that shift and shimmer as the light changes. The Mamei Silver Cloud is a ground-creeping Philodendron with a real sense of drama, the kind of plant that makes a room feel curated and considered. It grows at a satisfying pace, each new leaf arriving larger and more impressive than the last. One for the collector who wants something genuinely special on their shelf.

CARE GUIDE

+ POSITION / LIGHT: Bright indirect light is ideal to maintain the silver variegation. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the leaf surface and wash out the markings.

+ WATERING: Allow the top 2–3cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Good drainage is essential. This one is sensitive to overwatering and appreciates a light, aerated potting mix.

+ TEMPERATURE: Happiest between 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.

+ FERTILISER: Feed once a month through spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce over autumn and winter.

+ GROWTH RATE: Moderate. A ground creeper by nature, it spreads horizontally rather than climbing, with each new leaf arriving bigger than the one before.

+ PET FRIENDLY: No, toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep out of reach.

FAQ'S

1. The silver markings on my plant are fading. What's happening? Not enough light. Move it to a brighter spot with good indirect light and new growth should come through with stronger silver patterning.

2. Why are the leaf edges turning brown?
Low humidity is usually the cause. The Mamei loves moisture in the air. A humidifier nearby or grouping it with other plants will help keep humidity levels up.

3. Can I propagate it? Yes. Take a stem cutting with at least one node and place it in moist sphagnum moss or a well draining potting mix. Keep it warm and humid while it roots.
