The Philodendron ā€˜Brasil’ is a vibrant twist on a classic favourite. With heart-shaped leaves splashed in lime green and golden-yellow variegation, it’s like your standard Heart Leaf Philodendron put on its party outfit.

This tropical beauty is easy to care for and perfect for adding a pop of colour to shelves, hanging pots, or even climbing up a moss pole. Low-maintenance and fast-growing, it’s a a good option for beginners, plant shoppers looking for an easy care option, or seasoned plant parents alike!

Philodendron Brasil 怰ļø Care Guide

Ā POSITION / LIGHT: Loves bright, indirect light to keep its variegation vibrant. It’ll tolerate low light, but the colours may fade. Avoid harsh direct sun—it can burn the leaves.

Ā  WATERING: Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry. Less is more—Devil’s Ivy would rather be slightly dry than soaked.

Ā  TEMPERATURE: Happy in warm indoor temps—ideally between 18–28°C. Doesn’t love sudden chills or draughts - keep it away from cold drafts and heaters for a happy plant.

Ā  FERTILISER: Feed monthly during spring and summer. No need to feed in winter.

Ā  GROWTH RATE: Fast! Whether you let it trail or train it to climb, Philodendron ā€˜Brasil’ will grow quickly in the right conditions.

Ā  PET FRIENDLY? No. Keep it out of reach of pets—it's toxic if ingested.

FAQ'S 怰ļø

Is Philodendron Brasil climbing or trailing?

Both! It naturally trails, making it perfect for hanging pots, but it can also be trained to climb up a support like a moss pole or trellis. If you allow it to climb the leaves will grow larger the higher it climbs!

Does Philodendron Brasil like to be root bound?

It doesn’t mind being slightly root bound and can even thrive that way for a while. However, if growth slows or roots are popping out of the drainage holes, it’s time to size up the pot.

Can you put Philodendron cuttings straight into soil?

Yes, you can! Make sure each cutting has a node (where the leaf meets the stem), plant it into moist, well-draining soil, and keep it humid and warm. Alternatively, you can start it in water first, let the roots grow for a few weeks, and then transplant into soil.

How often should I water Philodendron Brasil?

Generally every 7–10 days in warmer months, and less in winter. Always check the top of the soil—if it feels dry, it’s time for a drink. Avoid letting it sit in water.
