Slender white pinstripes drawn across soft green leaves with a precision that looks almost too perfect to be natural. The Vittata is one of the more refined and elegant Calatheas, understated enough to sit quietly in a collection but distinctive enough to hold its own on a shelf. A beautiful choice for anyone who appreciates the quieter kind of beautiful.

CARE GUIDE

+ POSITION / LIGHT: Bright indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sun which will fade those delicate white stripes and scorch the leaf surface.

+ WATERING: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Use filtered or rainwater where possible as Calatheas are sensitive to the fluoride and chlorine in tap water.

+ TEMPERATURE: Happiest between 18–27°C. Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioning and temperatures below 15°C.

+ FERTILISER: Feed once a month through spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. No feeding needed over winter.

+ GROWTH RATE: Moderate. Produces new leaves steadily through the warmer months, each one unfurling slowly from the centre of the plant.

+ PET FRIENDLY: Yes, non-toxic to cats and dogs. 🐾

FAQ'S

1. The white stripes on my Vittata are fading. What's happening? Most likely too much direct sun washing out the markings. Move it to a spot with gentler indirect light and new growth should come through with the pinstriping more defined.

2. The leaf edges are browning and crispy. What's wrong? Low humidity or tap water sensitivity. Switch to filtered or rainwater and increase humidity around the plant with a humidifier or pebble tray filled with water.

3. Can I propagate it? Yes. Divide the plant carefully at the base during repotting, ensuring each division has a healthy root system. Pot up in fresh well draining mix and keep warm and humid while it settles in.
