The Peperomia Watermelon - round, striped leaves that look exactly like watermelon rind - this one earns its name! Compact, glossy, and surprisingly easy to keep happy, it's just as at home on a desk as it is in a full plant collection.
CARE GUIDE
+ POSITION / LIGHT: Bright, indirect light is the sweet spot. Direct sun fades those beautiful stripes; too little light slows growth.
+ WATERING: Let the top 2–3cm of soil dry out between waterings. These leaves store moisture, so they'd rather be slightly dry than sitting wet.
+ TEMPERATURE: Happy between 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and air conditioning vents.
+ FERTILISER: Once a month through spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser. Skip or reduce over autumn and winter.
+ GROWTH RATE: Slow to moderate. Grows to around 20–30cm, forming a tidy, compact mound.
+ PET FRIENDLY: Yes — non-toxic to cats and dogs. 🐾
FAQ'S
1. My leaves are curling — what's wrong? Usually underwatering, low humidity, or too much direct sun. Check the soil and shift it somewhere with gentler light.
2. Can I propagate it? Yes, easily. Take a leaf or stem cutting and place it in water or moist soil. Stem cuttings tend to root faster.
3. Why are the leaves losing their pattern? Too much direct sunlight is usually the culprit. Move it to a brighter spot out of direct sun and the new growth should come back with full markings.
