Glossy, rounded leaves splashed with irregular patches of cream, gold and bright green that look almost painted on. The Green & Gold is a cheerful, compact Peperomia that earns its spot on any shelf without asking for much in return. Pet friendly, low maintenance, and genuinely good looking.
CARE GUIDE
+ POSITION / LIGHT: Bright indirect light keeps the gold and cream variegation vivid. Lower light dulls the contrast over time and may cause the plant to revert toward plain green.
+ WATERING: Allow the top 2–3cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Peperomias store moisture in their leaves and prefer to dry out a little between drinks rather than sitting in consistently wet soil.
+ TEMPERATURE: Comfortable between 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and air conditioning vents.
+ FERTILISER: Feed once a month through spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser. No feeding needed over winter.
+ GROWTH RATE: Slow to moderate. Stays compact and tidy, making it ideal for desks, windowsills and smaller spaces.
+ PET FRIENDLY: Yes, non-toxic to cats and dogs. 🐾
FAQ'S
1. The variegation is fading and the leaves are turning mostly green. Why? Not enough light. Move it to a brighter spot with good indirect light and new growth should come through with stronger gold and cream markings.
2. The leaves are soft and a little mushy. What's wrong? Overwatering. Allow the soil to dry out more between waterings and check that the pot has good drainage. Peperomias are far more forgiving of drought than excess moisture.
3. Can I propagate it? Yes, easily. Leaf or stem cuttings placed in water or moist soil will root reliably within a few weeks. Keep them warm and in bright indirect light while they establish.
