The Angel Wing, or Xanthosoma lindenii 'Magnificum', is a truly striking houseplant with large, arrow-shaped leaves boldly veined in creamy white against deep green. Its dramatic foliage has a tropical, almost hand-painted look that makes it an instant eye-catcher in any plant collection. Native to Colombia, this plant brings both elegance and a little bit of drama—perfect for those who want a showstopper without too much fuss (as long as you don’t skip the humidity!).

Angel Wing (Xanthosoma Lindenii 'Magnificum') 〰️ Care Guide

POSITION / LIGHT: Loves bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but the variegation pops most in well-lit areas. Keep out of harsh direct sun, which can scorch its stunning leaves.

WATERING: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 3–4cm of soil starts to dry out. Never let it sit in water - good drainage is essential.

TEMPERATURE: Prefers warm, humid conditions between 18–26°C. Avoid cold drafts, sudden temperature drops, or dry air - this plant is a bit of a humidity queen.

FERTILISER: Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Pause feeding in autumn and winter while growth slows.

GROWTH RATE: Moderate to fast grower with the right care. Indoors, it typically grows up to 60–90cm tall and wide. The large leaves make a big statement even at smaller sizes.

PET FRIENDLY? No. Xanthosoma is toxic if ingested, so be sure to keep it out of reach of curious pets and small children.

FAQ'S 〰️

Is Xanthosoma lindenii rare?

Yes, it’s considered rare and highly sought after for its stunning foliage. While it’s becoming more available in specialty nurseries and online plant shops, it’s still a prized find for collectors.

How big does a Xanthosoma plant get?

Indoors, it can grow up to 90cm tall and wide, with individual leaves stretching up to 30–40cm long. In tropical climates outdoors, it can grow even larger under ideal conditions.

Why is my Xanthosoma dying?

Common causes include overwatering (leading to root rot), low humidity, or too much direct sunlight. If the leaves are yellowing or browning at the edges, check for dry air or inconsistent watering. Move it to a more humid spot and ensure it’s not sitting in soggy soil.
